The rad Process

Five Stages From Idea
to Thriving Course

A professionally managed, turnkey journey from first confersation to a thriving, long-term course. We reduce uncertainty at every stage.

Why A Process

Good Courses Are Not
Improvised

Disc golf courses succeed when they're planned properly. Poor design, rushed installation or inadequate activation leads to underused assets, safety issues and wasted investment.

RAD's Validate, Design, Deliver, Activate and Grow model was built specifically for the Australian context.

It gives councils and landowners a clear, evidence-led pathway that de-risks every decision.

The RAD Model

Five Stages,
One Clear Pathway

Each stage stands alone with its own deliverables. You only move to the next one when the evidence supports it.

01

Validate

Feasibility report

Prove it works before you spend

We walk the land and test every assumption behind the idea, so the decision to proceed rests on evidence rather than enthusiasm.

  • Physical site assessment and terrain analysis
  • Intended user definition and demand modelling
  • Realistic scope and indicative budget guidance
02

Design

Documented plan

A course your contractors can build

Hole-by-hole layout documented to a standard your planners, procurement team and contractors can all work from.

  • Hole-by-hole layout and shot-shape variety
  • Safety corridors and shared-use conflict mapping
  • Accessibility and inclusive design built in
03

Deliver

Built and handed over

One team, full accountability

Installation managed against a defined scope, so there is no gap between the plan you approved and what gets built.

  • Tee construction, basket installation and signage
  • Quality control against the approved design
  • Practical completion sign-off and handover pack
04

Activate

Opening and programs

More than an opening day

Launch coordination, coaching and club connections: the programs that turn a new course into a course people actually use.

  • Opening day coordination and facilitation
  • Coaching clinics and come-and-try sessions
  • Club and community group connections
05

Grow

Ongoing partnership

Evidence your investment, year after year

Monitoring, reviews and staged upgrades that keep play quality high and give you the data to justify the next round of funding.

  • Usage monitoring and UDisc data review
  • Safety and play-quality course reviews
  • Staged upgrade and expansion planning

FAQs

Straight Answers About
How We Work

What to expect at each stage, and what we need from you.

Do we have to commit to all five stages?

No, you can engage stage by stage, starting with Validate. Each phase stands alone with clear deliverables. You only proceed when you're ready.

How long does it take?

Timelines vary by site and scope. Validate typically takes a few weeks. Full project timelines are provided after feasibility is confirmed.

What if our site turns out to be unsuitable?

That's exactly why Validate comes first. If it's not viable, we'll tell you honestly and explain why. This saves you time and money.

Can you work with our existing partners?

Yes, we collaborate with your existing landscape architects or contractors. Or we can provide full turnkey delivery. The choice is yours.

What does council need to provide?

Site access, stakeholder input, and coordination of any required approvals. We handle the disc golf expertise and technical delivery.

Still have questions?

We're ready to talk through your specific situation.
