Let’s recap The Choices Flooring 2018 Australian Disc Golf Championships presented by Nature 2 Nourish

Disc golf may be winding down in the United States, but down under things are just getting started! This past weekend, players from Australia, New Zealand, and other parts across the globe congregated in Canberra to compete in the Australian Disc Golf Championships. Not only did 95 competitors battle it out on one of the area’s most beautiful courses, but even Terry Miller from Smashboxx made the trek from Wisconsin to film the action!

Not only does the ADGC feature some great disc golf competition, but the tournament acts as a way for the local community to get to know each other through fun social events that take place each night. Before long, you’ll feel as if you’re surrounded by a group of your best friends. Let’s check out the action and see how some of the players faired!

A Jewel In Canberra

This year’s ADGC was held at Weston Park, one of the newest additions to the Canberra area. Designed by Todd Nowack and featuring a 27 hole layout that tests every shot you have in your bag, the event was well-received by those in the disc golf community. Having just recently finished the course itself, Nowack and the ACT Disc Golf Club made sure that this event was going to be one to remember.

Amateur players received an awesome player’s pack including items from DUDE, Discraft, Paragon, and more, with sponsors from Nature 2 Nourish on-site to show their support. All in all, this year’s championship event was incredible, as attendees are already excited to come back next year!

Playing To Win

DUDE Ambassador Jackson Sullivan had one clear goal in mind during this weekend’s tournament – as he took home first place in the 2017 ADGC, he aimed to make this year a back to back situation. Sadly, his best efforts earned him a second place finish this time around, with Patrick Robinson absolutely dominating the field. His overall score after three rounds was -30, with Sullivan’s second-place performance at a -17.

RAD’s very own, Chris Finn, took part in the event as well, competing in the Open field against some of the country’s best players. Finn (pictured on the right) tied for fourth place along with DUDE Ambassador Jordan Wheeler (pictured on the left), who is finally back home after spending a good part of the year touring in the United States.

The competition at this year’s event was pretty fierce as a whole, and as 11 different divisions all took to the course, some first-place finishes were much tighter than others. For those who weren’t able to experience the action firsthand, keep an eye out for post-produced coverage from Terry Miller as he not only captured some great footage from the tournament but also traveled around the area to get a real feel for the disc golf scene in Australia.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Australian Disc Golf Championships! The weather here is just starting to warm up and we can’t wait to see what this season of disc golf has in store down under!
